I’m excited to announce that I’m running for re-election as your Ward 6 Councilmember.

We’ve accomplished much, but we are facing unprecedented times and threats to the DC we know and love. I’m asking for your continued support, trust, and partnership, as well as your vote.

Working together, we’ve transformed Ward 6 into diverse communities where families put down roots, entrepreneurs take their shot, and our seniors help usher forward the next generation. It’s the shared vision of a city that protects what makes it great, knows how to build for the future, and grows to make sure everyone can call it home.

I’ve been proud to fight for and deliver great public schools that families can trust their child’s education is in good hands.

I’ve pushed to have Ward 6 lead the way with more new affordable housing than anywhere else in our city. I’ve been a champion for our locally owned and operated small businesses that are a heartbeat of our neighborhoods. I’ve worked for comprehensive solutions to improve public safety, drive down crime, and create opportunities for those returning home. I’ve helped dig our public transit out of a looming financial crisis and created new ways to make our streets safer by holding dangerous drivers accountable. I’ve been able to deliver all of this and more because we knew what to fight for and I’m proud of working with you to deliver for Ward 6 and our entire city.

But the fight is far from over. This past year has been one of the most challenging many of us can remember. Many neighbors have lost their jobs. Career federal employees are missing paychecks and standing in line at food banks. We’ve seen residents taken off our streets by masked federal agents. Trump is tilting everything for the wealthy and well connected, while trying to pit everyone else against each other. And a hostile Congress keeps trying to erode DC’s autonomy and rights. It’s deeply concerning.

But as one of the longest serving members of the Council, I know that we can fight and win. I know that we will prove our values and come out as a stronger community on the other side. I know that courage is contagious, which is why I’m not afraid to continue calling out the lies, the smears, and the attacks. And leadership demands we stay in the fight to remain laser focused on what neighbors need every day: improving our schools, continuing our progress on public safety, and bringing down the costs of living.

That only happens one day at a time and with a combination of hard work and vision. It happens in all-day hearings at the Council, ANC meetings on weeknights, at community events or block parties on weekends, and in the sidewalk conversations I’ve had with so many of you. If my time on the Council has taught me one thing, it is that we can get big things done. My record proves it, too. I love this work and the faith you’ve put in me is an honor.

I love working with you to get this job done for all of our neighbors and I am asking for your support again because the stakes have never been higher.
